Solana May Get NFT Royalties Enforceable Through New Metaplex Standard

Creator royalties have dropped substantially in the Solana NFT sector recently, as top marketplace Magic Eden made paying them optional last week after rivals that shied away from royalties snatched away market share. Now Metaplex, the maker of Solana’s NFT standard, says it is developing a new standard that could enforce royalty payments across the board. While artists and creators can set royalty rates through project smart contracts.

The firm said that the existing Metaplex standard is used by more than 99% of all Solana NFTs created so far. Metaplex said it can create enforceable royalties by expanding its token metadata program, which is how NFT makers add the data and information that makes an NFT—or blockchain token representing ownership in an item—unique from one another.

The publisher of the CryptoZoo NFT scam project, Logan Paul, has yet to fulfill his promise to return $1.8 million to investors over the past six months. YouTuber Logan Paul faced intense backlash six months ago for allegedly scamming his audience with an NFT gaming project called CryptoZoo, which was proposed in 2021. Paul and his crew were given ZOO tokens and sold NFT, but the game was never completed.

As alleged by Coffeezilla, Paul once promised to deposit all of their ZOO tokens into a burning wallet so that the tokens would be effectively destroyed. After that, they can only profit from their ZOO tokens. However, upon examining the official ZOO contract detailed in the token’s white paper, there is no clear evidence that Paul or Levin burned any of their ZOOs.

Mercedes-Benz is working on a new function that allows drivers to display NFTs by connecting their wallet .

Metaverse to help tackle global warming: Study

A recent study suggests that the metaverse, a virtual 3D environment where the physical and digital worlds merge, has the potential to contribute to the reduction of global surface temperatures by up to 0.02 degrees Celsius by the end of the century. Published in the journal Energy & Environmental Science, the study highlights the metaverse's ability to lower greenhouse gas emissions, decrease atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration.

The study emphasizes the potential benefits of metaverse-based remote working, distance learning, and virtual tourism in improving air quality. By reducing transportation and commercial energy usage, the metaverse can also contribute to transforming energy distribution, with a greater energy supply directed towards the residential sector.
